Trail Overview

This trail is relatively easy but offers spectacular views at the top. Due to some rocky areas, it can be done with any 4WD vehicle with a bit of extra ground clearance. After a heavy rain, it will be slick and muddy in a few places. Located at the top of the trail, you will find one of two fire outlook locations accessible by vehicle in Wyoming.

Difficulty

The majority of the trail is dirt and rock that is easily traversed in 2WD with high clearance. There are a few places where the rocks are a little larger and 4WD could be used. Several places where there is no rock can become slick with mud after a heavy rain.

History

This trail leads to one of two fire outlook stations in Wyoming that is accessible by vehicle. It is in the Bridger-Teton National Forest management area and is within an hour of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It provides incredible views of all the mountain ranges surrounding the fire outlook station.

Access Description

Each side of the trail can be entered from Wyoming HWY 191. The more northern entrance starts by entering on Cliff Creek Trailhead - 30530 and the southern side directly off 191.
