Trail Overview
Stairway to Heaven goes from the south end of Red Canyon Road up onto Limestone Mountain. It's a fun climb, gaining over 1,500 feet in just under 4 miles. In some places, the trail is loose rock, and in other spots, it's dirt. You start in a grassy meadow, but before the top, you move through some trees and brush. There are antelope in this area, as well as a few cows. In several sections, you have a steep climb on loose rock. This is a great option to get across the public lands managed by BLM and get further into the Shoshone National Forest. At the top of the trail, you're at 8,552 feet, so the summer air is much cooler than down in the valley and the views in every direction are fantastic.
