Trail Overview
Camp Verde Trail in total is a long 13-mile 50-inch trail in the Black Hills of Prescott National Forest near Camp Verde, Arizona. The south segment is a 2.8-mile stretch that is much more difficult than the northern segment. It starts at the Copper Canyon Trailhead heading north, then turns west at the sign marked for #545, and heads southwest with lots of zig-zags until it meets up with Copper Canyon Road. The trail side-hills up a hill, gaining about 400 feet, until it gets up to the top of the hill. This segment of the trail would be challenging or impassable for an ATV due to off-camber sections of shelfy trail with lots of loose dirt and loose rocks, and a loose rockier hill climb. It has several tight switchbacks that would also be rather difficult for an ATV.
