Trail Overview
Howard is a 62-inch designated trail in the Kelly Canyon Motorized Trail System and prohibits full-width vehicles. Most of the trail goes through a dry forest of pines and oaks, on a wide trail with a mix of smooth sections and rocky sections. There is a small section of trail east of Forest Service Road 700 that has some sections of small red rock ledges full of loose marbly rock, and a giant log that is down. Climbing up the loose rock ledges is a moderate obstacle. It crosses FS 700, and continues on the west side of the road, crossing some of the full-width dirt roads a couple more times. Each time it crosses a road, there is a rock pinch point preventing full-width vehicles from entering the trail. Much of the trail is a fast and flowy trail, with bermed corners and a hairpin turn with some loose rocks. A couple of sections have small rock ledges or loose rocks that would be more difficult for a utility UTV, but a sport UTV would have no problem. The north end goes right next to where people are often dispersed camping, so watch out for other trail users and ride respectfully.

Difficulty
This trail is easy on a dirt bike or sport UTV but could be harder for a utility UTV or ATV due to a rocky surface at times.
