Trail Overview
Dunn Peak Road is an easy dirt road that starts in the town of Avery and ends at the Dunn Peak ATV trail. It's marked as an ATV route from town. It starts off as paved as it goes past a couple of homes in Avery, but quickly turns to dirt right away. It's the kind of dirt road that was graded at one point but now is less maintained. It has some water ruts, some small embedded rock, and some loose rock on the surface at times, and is smooth in a lot of sections. It's mostly pretty wide with a couple of sections that are narrower and go along a shelf for part of it. It has some wide switchbacks in the beginning and some tighter turns and switchbacks near the end. You'll get great views of the mountain range looking down on this valley. You don't necessarily need high clearance for this road. It accesses a couple of single tracks and an ATV trail.
