Trail Overview
When accessing this trail, the turn to the west from Highway 77 (North Oracle Road) has its own stoplight, making the turn easier. The road has several cattle guards, some with missing bars, so be careful to not get a flat tire. Signs alert you that you're entering Arizona State Trust Land, which needs a cheap online yearly permit. There is no target shooting allowed in this area. The road varies from a two-vehicle-width graded dirt road to a single-vehicle-width unimproved road towards the end. Still, any vehicle should be able to drive this road without issue when dry. Take caution for mud when wet. The trailhead at the end is an unimproved one without services at an old water tank and windmill (still in use). This road gives you access to several mountain bike singletrack trails and tens of miles of more difficult offroading and camping areas in the Tortolitas.
