The trail starts at the valley floor and rises 3,800 ft. to the pass. The road is not well maintained and has heavy erosion exposing large rocks that need to be removed by hand. At the top of the pass, the road is blasted into the side of the mountain. The road here is composed of sharp, medium to small-sized rock. From the pass, you descend 3200 feet down an old mining road that has not been maintained.
