Trail Overview
If you are looking for a good way to get clear to the east side of Sand Hollow, or from the east side to the west side, to meet up with friends or to catch a new trail, this route will take you clear across the north edge of the park, along the road, and give you access to the reservoir. It's just over 3 miles, and the only problem is that in peak times you'll probably encounter a lot of traffic in this area. During the winter, it's a lot less crowded, except you might find cows on the trail. On the west end, there is a staging area at Water Tank Road. On the east end, the staging area is Sky Ranch Staging Area. This sandy/slick rock trail includes some whoops and some fun corners, as well as some challenges. On the Water Tank Road end, there is a rock climb you must do. If you don't go straight up it, you'll end up off-camber. It's not hard, but it might look daunting. At the tunnel, you can turn and go down to the beach and the reservoir, or you can take this all the way to either end. This is a good way to get back to the east side without having to go up "Deklined" which is featured in East Rim to Razzle Dazzle Slalom. Deklined is a 10+ when heading west to east. This track avoids that hill and gets you up over the mesa on an easier path...still rocky in places, but it's easier. From this trail, you can access obstacles in Sand Hollow, including Double Sammy, the Chute, Toll Booths, the Maze, Slip Rock, TNT Extended, The Ledges, Joint Effort, War Machine, Smurfette, Broken Chain, and War Machine. If slick rock obstacles aren't for you, other trails in this area, that are less technical in nature, include Razzle Dazzle, Water Tank Road, Landslide, East Rim, and Sand Dune Way. If you take this track all the way to the east, you can take the Far East Access Road to Hurricane Wash and get back behind Sand Hollow, where you will find the Dinosaur Tracks, a trail onto East Mesa and trails that lead further south into Arizona. The Honeymoon Trail and Temple North Trail are both great rides on the east side of Sand Hollow. When riding in Sand Hollow during the late fall and winter months, be sure to watch for cows. You will see their tracks and cow manure on some of the trails, so watch out for them. As always, in the desert, be aware of the possibility of rattlesnakes. During spring, summer, and fall months the risk of finding a snake increases. A tall flag is a must for safety, and it's required in Utah, and recovery equipment like a tow rope, a snatch block and a winch may be helpful. Starting Feb 2023, Utah is going to begin enforcement of their new law, which requires an online course for all off-roaders. The free course will be available online as of Jan 1, 2023. The state says the online course will take 15-30 minutes, and it's required for all off-roaders, Jeeps, SXSs, dirt bikes, and ATVs. You will have to print out something to carry with you which shows you took the course. I have a photo below with information about this course.

Difficulty
Congestion at the tunnel may require you to cross a little higher up on the hillside, which means going down off of some steep rocks on one side and back up on the other. The incline/decline is 4-6 feet depending on where you cross. Not too hard, though. At Water Tank Road, there is a rocky slope. If too far towards the downhill side, you'll get off-camber. It needs to be tackled straight up or straight down. Otherwise, it's a sandy wash in some areas, a sandy trail in others, and easy access from east to west or vice versa.
