Trail Overview
This easy section of the Arizona Peace Trail is a unique sight along the route. It starts in the fields and canals and crosses the highway as it cuts through the large concrete and gravel plant. Once there, you drive between a large irrigation canal and the active train tracks. This route offers superb access to the BLM land on the other side of the train tracks through larger concrete tunnels and trestle bridges. Once there, it's a playground of steep hills, sandy washes, and technical sections. This section of the trail ends at the fascinating abandoned bus stop and the ghost town of Dome. There isn't much left aside from some graffitied old trailers and large amounts of trash just waiting to be aged into the "artifact" classification. The trail is easy but could be impassable and rutted when conditions are wet. Two bars of Verizon LTE cell service fade in and out.
