Trail Overview
The Beale Wagon Road Main trail is an interesting trail that allows you to step back in time. Named after Edward Fitzgerald Beale, this road was first scouted, constructed, and used in 1857. This historical trail stretches from Fort Smith, Arkansas, to the Colorado River, and was responsible for bringing ranchers and immigrants to the American West. Significant portions of the landscape through which the road winds remain in nearly the same condition as when they were first encountered by Beale. The trail we encounter here is more modern to the West, with the road being gravel and wide, and servicing areas of the National Forests as well as remote neighborhoods and private ranches. Toward the East, you'll travel through a vast and wide prairie, with views that are nothing short of beautiful. There is spotty cell service along this trail, so offline maps are recommended. The prairie section requires a bit of route finding as it is almost reclaimed by nature and is sparsely used. There are no major obstacles on the trail, though there are a few gates, so please observe the rules of the West and close the gates behind you.

Difficulty
This is an unmaintained and easy trail for all skill levels. The reason for a "2" ranking is due to the drop to one lane in the prairie section of the trail. NOTE - The prairie has long grasses that can hide rocks and other obstacles that might cause damage to vehicles. Caution is urged. The prairie section is not heavily used and some trail finding might be in order. Please remember to TREAD LIGHTLY.
