Trail Overview
Buckwheat's Basecamp is a one-lane dirt trail that cuts through this section of the Kaibab National Forest. This trail is lined with towering Ponderosa Pine trees and is a popular spot with hunters. The trail is curvy, and there are mud ruts in places that might become an issue after or during a rain event. There are trees down across the main trail, but well-established bypasses have been put in place, so please stay on those. The trail does have erosion and water damage on it as well, but no major obstacles along it. There is no cell service in this area of the forest, so offline maps are recommended.
