Trail Overview

This is a very scenic drive through the heart of the White Mountains in Arizona. The trail is a well-maintained Forest Service road, suited for a vehicle with average ground clearance. Licensed and registered vehicles are required to travel this trail. There are spots of washboard, but driving slowly and enjoying the scenery, you hardly notice. This trail is green/easy. The easy terrain makes it suitable for searching for the elk, deer, turkey, and other wildlife that roam the area. If you're an angler, be sure to take a fishing rod and catch a few trout at Carnero Lake. The lake is artificial bait only (fly fishing). This trail is part of a massive trail network in the Arizona White Mountains. As you explore, be sure to hit some of the other trails in the area ranging from easy to moderate.
