Trail Overview

This trail begins or ends at the Cottonwood Valley overlook, where you can see Lake Mojave in multiple directions. There is no water access from this overlook. It is a series of canyons with the lake far below. The trail is dirt mostly with some loose gravel. Watch for small washouts. The view from Cottonwood Valley overlook is stunning, with mountains in all directions surrounding the water. Following this trail, going south will weave through the wilderness and end at an intersection where three trails pick up. These other trails lead to different coves with dispersed campsites on the water. This area is part of the Lake Mead Recreation Area; before visiting, it's encouraged to look up and abide by all Lake Mead Rec Area rules. This area is remote, with no services. Bring extra water and supplies when traveling these trails, especially in summer. There are a few bars of cell service when traveling above the water along the ridgelines. Federal regulations prohibit motor vehicles except on park roads and parking areas. Vehicles are permitted only on approved roads and only when they are properly licensed for street use. SXS, ATVs, and motorcycles plated for street use could access these trails. All other off-road driving is prohibited in this area.
