Trail Overview
FR 799 is a single-lane mud and dirt trail that weaves between the beautiful pine trees of the Kaibab National Forest. Similar to trails further north, this trail is speckled with Ponderosa Pine and Juniper. Some spots are narrow between the trees, with random runoff and wash crossings that might provide a tricky passage during monsoon season. The erosion and water runoff paths have shaped parts of this trail into off-camber mud ruts, so slow and steady is the name of this game. Peppered with random rock gardens and tight/leaning trees, this trail is interesting, especially if you stop at the ruins of an old cabin along the way. The meadow views and open grasslands are beautiful spots for a picnic or camping.
