Trail Overview
This is an out-and-back loop trail that leads you to the Green Quartz Mine. Despite its name, this underground mining operation wasn't seeking quartz at all, but rather gold and silver. This route is on public BLM land but there are a few off-shoot trails that cross into private property. There are posted "Private Property" and "No Trespassing" signs at the boundary lines. Please be respectful of these signs and do not venture beyond them. There are a couple of open mine shafts and points of interest to see in the public (BLM) side. The trail begins as an easy-going two track as it heads up the gradual hillside. Once you begin dropping down the hill into the mine area, the hill is mildly rocky with some erosion damage. There's nothing too difficult or technical. The loop leads you to a couple of open vertical mine shafts. Use extreme caution around them. The trail is short and simple but a fun little adventure. Enjoy the beautiful desert scenery surrounding you.
