Trail Overview

Jump Canyon (BLM 1033) is a connector trail between Hobble Canyon (BLM 1032) and Hidden Canyon (BLM 1003). The trail is a well-defined two-track that is wide enough for a full-size vehicle to travel. The road snakes and weaves its way through a beautiful, picturesque, rocky canyon. The trail dips into river washes a dozen times. A few of these spots can catch you by surprise with their abrupt drop-offs, so watch your speed. Use caution in wet conditions, as flash floods do happen in this region. Towards the northeastern end of the trail, you'll pass an old, abandoned water tanker truck. There are active water troughs in this canyon, meaning free-roaming livestock can be present on the trail. The Arizona Strip is incredibly remote with no service and hardly any visitors. Summer months will reach triple-digit temperatures and freezing temperatures in the winter months. Be prepared when venturing out here. Advisory note: Hidden Canyon (1003) is a more advanced and technical trail where 4x4 and high clearance are required (see warning sign photo--last). The south end of Jump Canyon connects to this trail, and unless your vehicle and skill level can navigate the rock-ledge obstacles present on Hidden Canyon, you must turn around. Be advised.
