Trail Overview

Little Grand Canyon is a feature that runs through the middle of the Table Mesa area filled with cottonwood trees and birds. This is a Jeep trail off of Table Mesa Road that heads north to connect to more trails like Terminator and the Yellow Loop. The beginning of the route goes past many BLM dispersed campsites and under some power lines. The road is easy but does have ruts, small washouts, uneven ground, and small loose rocks. It crosses a huge wash near the beginning and then gets narrower as it heads north and east, as it goes between tight bushes and berms. It goes under a huge palm tree, which seems unique against all the tall saguaro. There are lots of big dips in this terrain, so high clearance is definitely needed. There are lots of unmarked offshoots and intersections throughout the trail, including the one big turn to go northeast is unmarked. Vehicles larger than a Jeep will find the stream crossing to be a narrow squeeze. Trail pinstriping is guaranteed in this area.

Difficulty

The south beginning is an easy dirt road used for dispersed camping and big rig-friendly. After the camping spots, it narrows up and becomes more difficult and narrow, requiring high clearance for features such as uneven ruts, dips, and wash crossings.

Access Description

The OHV Area off of Table Mesa Road is a popular destination for UTVs, ATVs, dirt bikes, and rock crawlers, and can get pretty busy on weekends. Trails range from easy to extreme. There's an extensive amount of dispersed camping available along Table Mesa Road and at the beginning of the North Little Grand Canyon. Note that this area is extremely popular for target shooting, as people set up in the natural "bays" between the hills, but these bays are sometimes uncomfortably close to the trails. Be aware of this, expect to hear target shooting throughout the day (and into the night), and please shoot responsibly. Always know your backdrop. Parking is available at the OHV staging area along with pit toilets.
