Trail Overview
Red Hill Rd starts down in the beautiful prairie on the Coconino Plateau. As you head west, you'll climb through the mixed pine to the forested Red Hill. The road narrows to a single lane of dirt and mud, and is unmaintained, so the mud ruts could prove challenging after rain or snow. While one cannot drive all the way to the top of Red Hill, the road is open to hike the last bit. With sporadic campsites and trails and flush with wildlife such as elk and antelope, this area is popular with hunters.
