Trail Overview
Rocky 4 starts in the pastures and grassland of the Kaibab National Forest outside of Paulden, AZ. As you progress Eastward on the trail, the rockier it gets as sporadic rock gardens give way to an almost constant rocky hillclimb. There are several obstacles on this trail, with small boulders and wash crossings that might challenge even the experienced driver. Line choice is key in these sections, as offcamber transitions do exist. Near the top, all of the time-consuming driving becomes worth it when you reach the large grassy meadows that are peppered with pinion and ponderosa pine. A popular area for hunters, there is evidence of Elk, Deer, and other wildlife.
