Trail Overview
This is a great trail to wet your feet in the Southwest Arizona Desert! An easy, mellow trail, with wide, sweeping gravel, this trail introduces you to the flora and fauna of palo verde, creosote, and multiple cactus species that occupy this ruggedly beautiful part of the world! Large areas of level gravel provide a great place for camping, especially in groups, and with trailers or rooftop tents. While on this trail, you'll experience stunning views of the mountains in the distance, and the beautiful Arizona desert. There are a few small wash crossings, but not to worry, as they are more like small bumps in the road, rather than the steep ins and outs of the trails that are deeper in the mountains and the gently rolling hills will put some wind in your hair. If you and your group are touring, this is great easy access to the west side of the Arizona Peace Trail (AZPT) and the Kofa Wilderness. This trail skirts the Yuma Proving Grounds and Test Range, so military activity overhead, as well as rolling thunder of ordinance in the distance is no cause for alarm.
