Trail Overview

Are you looking for some beautiful GA views, even in the summer? Ivy Log Gap, FS 100, runs along a ridge offering scenic views year-round, with incredibly stunning overlooks in the fall. This smooth gravel road requires no airing down and is generally easy to navigate, with only a few rocky sections. The trail is mostly a tight, one-lane path but sees little traffic. Starting from the east, the trail begins just past a subdivision and a few houses before transitioning from pavement to smooth gravel. It gradually becomes steeper, with occasional small mud holes. After the first significant hill climb, stay left at the fork. Beautiful north views open up to the right when the leaves drop. Entering from the west, the trail passes through private property and follows the main gravel road. For mud lovers, there is a decent mud puddle at the top of one hill, ane at a turnaround, and an open area quite muddy--dense vegetation lines the route, including a mix of trees, plants, and occasional wildflowers. The trail is open to highway-legal vehicles only and operates seasonally from 1/15-3/16. There are no permits or fees required. Cell service is spotty with AT&T. No bathrooms or staging areas are available along the trail, but a gas station and general store can be found about a mile west of the western trailhead off Highway 19. The town of Young Harris, with additional amenities, is roughly four miles east of the eastern trailhead on Highway 75.
