Trail Overview

A scenic two-track that goes from Idaho City down to Grimes Creek Road. The road can be rutted and rocky in the spring with snow remaining, but typically in good shape by late June or July. The road ascends to about 6,000 feet and parallels Highway 21. The route is approximately 16 miles one way.

The description of this trail is not accurate. There are no level 4 obstacles right now and it is a well-graded road. Very scenic, despite the amount of smoke from the nearby fires. It is essentially a level 1 trail now and could easily be accessible by low-clearance, 2x4 vehicles.

someone listed this as a level 4 trail. I could have taken thw wife's Kia Sonata up it. had the 4x4 group of 5 people looking for a great trail.. this is one is a leisurely drive.
