Trail Overview
Matchett Trail is an offroad trail located within the Traverse City Forest Management Unit. Most of the trail consists of sand and dirt. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause downed trees, washouts, and mud holes. Some of these mud holes have been known to be more like potholes and are very jarring. Use caution. Along the trail, you can find beautiful wildflowers. As you navigate the trail up and down the hills, it will finish at the intersection of Barrett Road Trail. Many spur trails off this track are a lot of fun. Regardless of the conditions, this is a cool trail!
