Trail Overview
This is a nice out-and-back dirt and gravel trail to the Eagle Nest day-use area with access to the Madison River. There is also a day-use river access spot at the beginning of the trail if one doesn't want to venture the entire way down. There is no dispersed camping, but the Madison River Camp Ground has several even sites. Reservations are needed for that campground, though. No walk-ins. The trail narrows past the campground and drops down, running along the river. The trail is narrower at this point, and full-size vehicles must find the few pullouts to pass. The trail ends at a circular turnaround with day-use parking and a pit toilet. This appears to be a popular fishing spot--two to three bars of LTE service over here.
