Trail Overview
This trail has larger rocks and ledges at the start. Higher clearance is needed. The rocks give way to seasonal streams and meadows. There are switchbacks and shelf roads that ultimately end at an overlook of Silver Lake Flats. This is a single-width trail with limited turnaround options. The reward is wildlife, Limited traffic, and great mountain views.

Difficulty
Multiple points of loose rock present a hazard. During this mapping, the trail followed up the Forrest Service track, but after a pause at the top for rain, the way down encountered a slide that covered that track. This trail can be difficult at times, plan for challenges.
History
This is a commissary run left over from mining operations in the canyon that went on through the 1940's. Only the part tracked is still accessible, the more straight run that shows generally east to west across the lower section has been blocked for access.
