Trail Overview

North Fork Country Road is a 26.5-mile point-to-point trail rated 2 of 10 located in Kane County, Utah. This trail is a county-maintained dirt track that runs north/south and connects Highway 9 (Zion National Park Road) with Highway 14 at Navajo Lake (just west of Duck Creek). Traveling north, the pavement ends just past the turn for the Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort. The trail is generally accessible by any 2 or 4WD vehicle from late spring through early winter. The road is subject to closure during severe weather and during the winter months once the snow starts falling. The road starts at about 6,000 feet and climbs to over 9,000 feet before reaching the pavement at Navajo Lake. The road offers scenic views of Zion National Park, vista views of Birch Canyon, and sweeping views of the Markagunt Plateau. The North Virgin River which leads into the Zion Narrows parallels the road for several miles. Cell phone service is intermittent. The nearest services are in Mount Carmel or Duck Creek.

Access Description

From Highway 9, go north 5.4 miles on North Fork County Road until the pavement ends. From Highway 14, take Navajo Lake Road-NFS30053 5.7 miles to the northern trailhead.
