Trail Overview
This trail is located in Fossil Butte National Monument. The trail starts at the Nature Trail parking lot, which is 2.5 miles up the paved road from the Visitor Center parking lot. RVs and vehicles towing anything should turn around at the Nature Trail as the Scenic Drive turns to gravel and has a 17% grade. The drive continues for another 3 miles, where you can encounter shallow ruts under 12 inches and some short steep climbs. The trail is single-track with a few wider areas that allow for passing when needed. The trail is accessible by 4WD and high-clearance 2WD vehicles. You can exit the park onto Bureau of Land Management (BLM) roads but will need a high-clearance 4WD vehicle. If you have crossed cattle guards, you are on BLM roads.
