Trail Overview
The 782 Trail is an interesting one. On its journey through the entire area South of the Wupatki National Monument, it sports varying terrain. Spots of deep, soft, sand may become problematic if you're unprepared. Sporadic rock gardens spring up and make the trail bumpy at times, with sneaky rocks in the trail or in the middle of the track to keep you on your toes. There are no obstacles on this trail, but it is winding, weaving between the mixed pine and Juniper trees that are indicative of the area. There are sporadic campsites along this trail, so don't be surprised if one of the many interconnecting trails in the area ends up at a campsite with a primitive fire ring. Please remember that if you do have a fire, you need to check local county and forest regulations as this area is prone to large and uncontrollable wildfires. There are sections of this trail that have viewpoints to the North, where the Navajo Reservation is visible, as well as various canyon views.
