Trail Overview
9157Y is a connector trail that cuts through the Juniper and Mixed pine of this area, South of the Wupatki National Monument. This trail is a typical one in the area and is a two-track that is predominately rock, sand, and cinder crush. Along this trail, you'll encounter campsites, some with primitive fire rings, as this area is popular with hunters. If you do decide to have a fire, please check local forest and county regulations as this area is prone to large and uncontrollable wildfires. This area is popular with hunters and is home to elk, deer, antelope, and various bird species. There are no obstacles on this trail and spotty cell service, so you'll want to have offline maps downloaded as there are numerous trails that crisscross this area. The trail connects to the 150 Pits trail and weaves down a canyon to do so, which provides beautiful views to the North out to and including the Navajo Reservation.
