Trail Overview
Lockwood's Escape is a beautiful, easy trail that cuts through a canyon and East out to the Navajo Reservation. The end of the trail at the reservation is marked with a gate. Along this trail, there are no obstacles, but there is also no cell service, so offline maps are your friend in this area. This trail is predominantly dirt, with mud ruts and puddles along it caused by the monsoon rains that shape this environment. Along the way, you'll skirt the northern edge of the Rabbit Fire wildfire scar, where the fire lines and cuts made by the bulldozers are clearly visible. There are cattle in the area grazing, as well as deer, antelope, and elk, so keep a lookout.
