Trail Overview
This 3-mile loop starts off of Blue Pools Road 1096, loops north and east towards Stud Horse Point, and ends up back south at the intersection with 1098. Going clockwise, the beginning is a flat, straight, fast, smooth road of hardpacked dirt. You'll likely see cows grazing here. It goes through grasslands and bushes, with scenic cliffs in the distance. It takes a turn east and has really nice views of the hills of Stud Horse Point. You'll go past one of the main parking areas for Stud Horse Point. This is a fun area to walk around to see hoodoo rock formations and slot canyons. One of the hoodoos is right off the road you can see. It keeps making the loop to the south and is rutted at times and also shelfy with exposure. You have to go through a gate at one point. There are a couple of steeper spots with loose rock, but overall this is a really easy loop and really scenic. The east end gets sandy.
