Trail Overview
The Hunter Hill Camp trail is a fun little section of this area of the Kaibab National Forest. The northern section of the trail traces a ridgeline of ponderosa pine trees as you go slowly up and up. That section of trail culminates at the top of a little round area where an Austin-Powers-type turn can get you headed back to the connector point. The connector is a straight downhill into a little ravine that goes deeper into the forest. At the farthest east end, you're tucked back and away from all main trails and traffic. The ravine opens a bit and is surrounded on all sides by hills, with areas between the trees to see quite a ways. This area is deep in the trees, and as such, events have caused trees to come down, some across the trail. Caution is urged. There are some sections of erosion and water damage on this trail, leading to washouts and off-camber sections. There is no cell service in this area of the forest, so offline maps are encouraged.
