Difficulty

Moderate. Road starts easy but gradually gets steeper with more embedded rock. Most high-clearance, 4-wheel-drive SUVs can manage this route, but careful tire placement may be needed, depending on clearance.

History

Loch' is the Scottish word for 'Lake.' We are assuming Colorado's Loch Lomond is named after the more famous Loch Lomond in Scotland. Scotland's Loch Lomond is much larger, measuring 24 miles in length and 600 feet deep. It is a popular national park and recreation area close to Glasgow. Both Colorado and Scotland lakes share a natural beauty against a backdrop of towering mountains.

Easy trail, maybe one almost technical spot. As others said, lots of basic SUV’s up there including a Honda Element. The most difficult part was dodging hikers.

Pretty simple trail, just need to be mindful when passing people as it can be narrow in places. Lots of stock crossovers and suvs at the lake.
